We can testify to the absolute insanity of giving a rough-riding Jeep Wrangler a monstrous HEMI V8 engine that's good for 470 horsepower and a matching 470 lb-ft of torque. Introduced in 2022, the high-powered Wrangler wasn't exactly cheap. Back then, it cost around $84,000 base MSRP in Rubicon trim, and that price has soared to $101,890 for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition that you see here. It's the last V8 version that the brand will sell, marking the end of a very short life.

For that price tag, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition gets the full beans in terms of amenities, suspension, and extra features that make it a serious on and off-road monster. It receives a  half-inch suspension lift on top of the already tall 392 suspension, heavy-duty rock sliders, an 8,000 lb-rated Warn winch, and even an 83-piece tool kit. In terms of its looks, the Final Edition gets unique decals, a rear plaque, and black Nappa leather seats with Mayan Gold and Tupelo accents.

The rest of the bits are standard and super-tough Wrangler 392 components such as Dana 44 axles, a two-speed transfer case, Tru-Lok electronically locking diffs, electronic front sway-bar disconnect, and Beadlock-capable wheels shod with 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires are standard. You can get most of these features on the V6 Rubicon (which is plenty powerful with its 285-hp 3.6-liter engine), but it's the 392's insane engine that are it's calling card. 0-60 comes in 4.5 seconds (as quick as a Genesis G70 3.3T AWD). In the Rubicon 392, however, it feels even more disturbing because of the Jeep's size and ride height.

The Rubicon 392, however, is frighteningly expensive and not especially great on long drives. It's not spacious or cushy, and it's seriously thirsty at the pump. The EPA rating is at 13 mpg in the city, 17 mpg on the highway, and 14 mpg combined. The Final Edition is the swan song, and at almost $102,000, it's on par with exotic sports cars. This is the last of the V8 Wranglers, so get your mitts on one while it lasts. If you want a V8 Jeep model after 2024 is over, then you have to get the Grand Cherokee L.
