Every so often, Italian exotic car brand Alfa Romeo comes out with a stunner. The last time we were blown away was with the 8C Competizione back in 2007. The brand just dropped a new one known as the 33 Stradale, and what a gorgeous car it is. It marks the end of Alfa Romeo cars with internal combustion gas engines, as they (like everyone else) move toward electrification. Just take a look at this thing.

The car clearly pays homage to the legendary 1967 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale (photo below, Stellantis ), the roadgoing version of the race car. A mere 18 of them were made between 1967 and 1969. There are clear styling cues that have been modernized, including the low and deep-set headlights, the pronounced haunches and fenders, and the rear side vents.  Even the gold-colored wheels and the iconic "Quadrifoglio" badge ("four leaf clover"). The new 33 Stradale points to the brand's history, and we love what they've done.

Some parts of the 33 Stradale's frame come from the new Maserati MC20, as well as the mid-engine layout. But the engine is not the same. Instead of a 630 horsepower Maserati Nettuno twin-turbo V6 , there's a version of the twin-turbo V6 from the current Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio models, such as the Giulia Quadrifoglio. In the 33 Stradale, it makes 620 horsepower instead of 505. The car also gets some suspension bits from the track-focused Giulia Quadrifoglio GTA's active suspension.

The 33 Stradale is capable of hitting 60 mph from a standstill in 3 seconds, which makes it truly quick. No top speed numbers have been disclosed. Since the car is still in the final development stages, there are a lot of details that are unavailable. It's hard to believe that the 33 Stradale project began in the late summer of 2022, and it's now almost a reality. That's an insanely quick turnaround, and the results are remarkable.

The 33 Stradale platform shares with the Maserati MC20, using an aluminum H-frame and carbon fiber monocoque. The roof structure uses the same materials and supports the exotic butterfly doors. There's also a front-axle lift system that protects the front splitter. The 33 Stradale also has a drive mode selector with Strada (road) and Pista (track) modes, the latter being more aggressive. It also gets Launch control and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes.

The 33 Stradale will also get an electrified version that has a 100-kWh battery pack. What's more, it has an 800-volt architecture to support high-speed charging from 350-kW rapid chargers. The battery-electric 33 Stradale produces over 750 horses and should get to 62 mph in under 2.5 seconds, but Alfa Romeo hasn't shared much more than that. There are no details on the top speed, charging speed, or the weight difference between it and the gas version.

The interior might just be one of the most stunning and minimalist we've seen on an Alfa in a long time. The two-tone black and tan upholstery looks beautiful, and instead of distracting touchscreen controls, there's machined aluminum switchgear on the sleek center console. There's also a deep-set instrument cluster with twin analog-look digital gauges with a driver info display in between.

While we can't tell from photos, the 33 Stradale's interior supposedly has an integrated touchscreen system that emerges from the dashboard when it's called for but otherwise remains hidden to maintain the minimalist aesthetic. We have no idea where it's mounted. Apparently, the designers did a masterful job of blending it with the dash.

There's no pricing available, but think quite a bit more than the MC20's $212k price tag. We're guessing that it's closer to $500k since only 33 will be made compared to the 1,400 MC20s made annually.  Each one of the 33 33 Stradales has already been spoken for, so you're out of luck.
